It is absolutely normal for Technical Directors to feel unsupported. It is common to sense you are not respected in your role. It is typical to anguish over your desire to serve your church in great ways and yet feel voiceless. However, what if it is me that contributes to the problem? We must wrestle with two hard questions. Do I, through my style & my actions, contribute to this breakdown between my team and those whom I support on stage and in leadership? And, am I serious, serious enough to take the lead, about building ruthless respect and trust with my leadership. In this discussion, interact with session leaders as they challenge you, give you practical ideas, and engage in a healthy, but pointed dialogue about you being the leader to bring about change in the relationship between your role & those you support.
