Scope of Work on the Show Floor
Exhibitor Jurisdiction:
An EXHIBITOR is defined as a full-time employee of a company exhibiting on the show floor.
- Exhibitors may assemble a ground-supported truss that is used for the purpose of holding non-electrical equipment. Full-time employees may also attach electrical products which they specifically manufacture to any truss, but will not be permitted to access the exhibitor-owned electrical equipment using ladders, scissor lifts, etc.
- Exhibitors will be permitted to work on his/her company booth space on products that are manufactured by their company to be displayed for that company only.
- Exhibitors will be permitted to operate a board controlling dimmable, programmable or studio lighting if the exhibitor's company manufactures the product being used to operate the lighting system. Service charges will apply for an electrical usage, please contact the Dallas Convention Center for additional fees or labor services that may apply.
Please note: An Exhibitor Appointed Contractor (EAC) is not considered a full-time employee of the exhibiting company and therefore must abide by all local union contractual rules and regulations.
Rigging:
Rigging work is defined as work being performed at heights in excess of 12' and must be performed by Shepard Exposition Services. Lift equipment such as scissor lifts, single-man lifts and or boom lifts, etc. cannot be brought into the hall or used by anyone other then Shepard Exposition Services or the Dallas Convention Center.
INSTALLATION & DISMANTLE LABOR - DECORATORS UNION LOCAL756
The Decorators Union Local 756 has jurisdiction for the installation and dismantling of all exhibits including carpet, furniture, and hanging signs. All hired labor must belong to Local 756.
ELECTRICAL LABOR - DALLAS CONVENTION CENTER
Responsible for assembly‚ installation, and dismantling of anything that uses electricity as a source of power to the building electrical system. This includes:
- Electrical wiring
- Electrical signs
- Multiple TV and VCR connections
- Videotaping using multiple video cameras‚ including camera operation‚ audio and lighting
TEAMSTER LABOR - TEAMSTER UNION LOCAL 745
The Teamsters Union Local 745 has jurisdiction for the operation of all material-handling equipment, all unloading and reloading, and the handling of empty containers. Exhibitors may unload their own vehicles provided they do not use any material handling equipment (fork-lifts, flatbeds, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.)
